Megan and James are now safely back in Oz but, due to problems with the tom-toms James’ notes on their trip didn’t make it across the Indian Ocean so here there are now.

For those that missed the announcement on Facebook, Megan and James are now engaged. A sloppy affair in a tree house, at sunset, with zebra’s calling in to say congratulations.

The tom toms say…

We have just jumped into bed after what has been a pretty exhausting few days. Weather has been on the hot side of hot with temperatures reaching low to mid 30's. I think we left you last on the evening we headed into the Okavango Delta - we are now back at the first camp ready for the next adventure…..

Jumbo from Africa!!

A lot has happened since last contact. Yesterday we headed off to the Pretoria Lion Park which was basically an hour from Twana lodge where we were staying. We jumped out of our taxi and made a B line to the reception where we planned on seeing, doing touching everything we could. We were informed of the costs (all in South African Ran) and the times of estimated departures of tours etc. and set our schedule for the day.

First up we had an hour of free time to check out the park, we viewed the stripped hyenas, black eared jackal which were clever time wasters and then made our way down to feed the giraffes and ostrich. Megan was feeding pellets to the giant beast which we, of course, named Melmen out of Madagascar (which is also KP Irish Toms namesake). We were able to stand on a giant viewing deck and fed him so we were literally touching and patting him whilst his huge tongue seeked the illusive pellets. After spending some time with Melman we walked down the steps where 4 of the most impatient Ostrich were standing. I was immediately informed that "I was bitten by an Emu when I was younger". Clearly my reply was "well that’s great… these are Ostrich" some coaxing and some "look watch me do it" finally got Megan having the Giant birds eating out of her hand (literally).
