Kirby Parks Melman (if you have seen the animation film “Madagascar” Melman is the giraffe)
Kirby Park Irish Tom
Sire Kirby Park Irish Jordan
Dam Daring Twig (A grade show jumper)
Born 15th December 2003
Tom is my most sensitive horse he is a real S.N.A.G and like his title “Melman” he worries about everything from the sun bleaching on his ears to the shadow by the arena gate. He is sure to be a star with Jester as his uncle and mentor (they paddock across from each other).
He then gets warmed up and his confidence builds and he is awesome. He has great paces and a huge jump but we have taken him very slowly as there is no need to rush him. He did preliminary and pre novice last season and he will start again in preliminary this year.
I gave him 4 months off at the end of last season as he seemed to be still growing and we had issues finding a jumping saddle to fit his shape then “PRESTIGE” brought out the DX jumping saddle and this fits him like a glove.
I have a great team of young horses just ticking along in the back ground, with Tom, Chooch, Hurcs and Friday i don’t feel i need to rush these horses.
We had to get a “TOMMY TRAVEL PILLOW” as when he is in the truck he squishes his face into the corner of the truck and the head divider and sleeps. He does it as soon as he is loaded up and we watch him from the truck cab in the CCTV. He stay like that all the way to Sydney!!!! So a travel pillow was a must.
